Obituary of Ronald E McConnell

Ronald E. McConnell, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30th, 2021, at his home in Ocala, Florida. He was born on March 1st, 1943, in Utica, New York, to Edward D. McConnell Jr. and Elizabeth A. North. He was a 1960 graduate of Bridgewater High School. He married loving wife Madalyn Griffiths, who was a hairdresser at the time, on September 18th, 1965, in Knoxboro, New York. He worked clerical jobs throughout his life, displaying his knack for detail and outstanding analytical skills. Ron truly lived life to the fullest through spending time with his wife Madalyn, son Michael, whom Ron loved to hunt within New York, and daughter Christine, whom Ron cherished walking in parks with, and his five grandchildren. He loved playing cards and games while laughing with his grandchildren Edward, Kayleen, Cheyenne, Maika, and Skylar. He looked forward to nightly phone calls to his many friends and family members, such as his four siblings Sandy, Gerry, Lance, and Randy. When Ron was not making memories with his loved ones by playing the organ, teaching them the polka and the jitterbug, or walking through parks with them, he could be found enjoying the outside from his front porch chair while snacking on Spice drops or out woodworking.

Along with his wife, two children, and five grandchildren, Ron is survived by two grand-dogs, Puppy and Elsie Rose, to who he loved sneaking treats. Those whose lives have been enriched by Ron are invited to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home 910 SE Silver Springs, Blvd, Ocala, Fl 34470 on Saturday, February 13th, 2021, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm viewing with a service to follow to join in remembering him. Burial following in the Spring at Unadilla Forks cemetery in New York, the date is pending. In lieu of flowers, loved ones have requested that donations be made in Ron's memory to the Kidney Foundation Hospice of Marion County.
