Obituary of Richard John Bluhm

Richard John Bluhm, age 75, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at The Villages Regional Hospital.  Most people knew him as Rich or Dick, but I had the privilege of calling him “Grandpa”.  He was born in Illinois, October 1945 to the late Herbert and Lorraine Bluhm.  He was one of five children including Marge, Robert, Raymond and James.  After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Navy where he served for three years, at which time, he was awarded an honorable discharge.  My grandpa was also an immensely proud Vietnam veteran, who wore a hat everywhere he went to show the love he had for his Country.  Upon his return from the Navy, he met Patricia Tinich, whom he dated a year before marrying.  They shared a wonderful life together for 49 years, as well as, raised three girls.  His interests included reading and spending time with family, as well as being a longtime Chicago sports fan.  After working for Cook County Hospital for 35 years, he and my grandma retired to The Villages Florida.  He was a member of the Villages OF Club for many years, where he was able to share his profound love of golf with others.  One of the many things people loved about my grandpa was that he was always ready to help, no matter what the situation.  The thing I loved most about him was his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Pat, his three daughters Lisa Ouellette (Jeff), Kelly Cuffe (Dan), Shawn Schmitz (Robyn) granddaughter Breanna Schmitz...aka Chewy, and his loving four-legged companion Joey.  He is also survived by his sister Marge Strommer (Dick), and his brothers Raymond (MaryKaye), and James Sr (Carol) and is preceded in death by his brother Robert.  He was also a brother-in-law to Maryann Vische (Emil), Andrew Tinich (Mary) and Mona Rose (Casey) as well as an uncle to several nieces and nephews.  He will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Gary Sinise Foundation”.
