Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Dombek

Mary Elizabeth Dombek, 88, of Lecanto, Florida passed away at Diamond Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was born on September 12, 1932 to Joseph and Ella(Lorei) Allgeier and was raised on a dairy farm near Erie, PA. She graduated from St. Benedict Academy in Erie and then took a job as a teller at a local bank. After moving to Miami, FL, she met and married the love of her life, Donald Dombek. Together they raised six loving children, and, like her parents, this was in the Catholic tradition. After retirement Mary and Don moved to Gainesville, FL, and then 10 years later to Ocala, FL. Their final years were spent in Citrus County near their oldest daughter, Mary Arnold. Mary was a loving wife to Donald for 60 years and together they were active in the Church. Mary and Don were founding members of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary and St. Richard Catholic Churches in Miami, parishioners of Holy Faith Catholic Church in Gainesville, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala and Our Lady of Grace Church in Beverly Hills, FL. While in Ocala, Mary was a member of the Council of Catholic Women, headed the Respite program, was a regular at adoration and a Eucharistic Minister. Mary prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy daily and was very devoted to her faith. She also loved crafts spending many enjoyable hours sewing and doing needle point. Mary always tried to make the world around her more beautiful. This included cultivating picturesque flowering plants and in her final days coloring pictures. The wall of her room at Diamond Ridge was adorned with her beautiful artwork which she enjoyed gifting to family and friends.

Mary is survived by her children Kenneth(Saichol) of Seattle, WA, Mary Arnold(Andrew) of Beverly Hills, FL, Ronald(Crystal) of Fredericksburg, VA, Robert of Mt. Airy, MD, Stephen(Noriko) of Aiea, HI, and Darlene Landy(Patrick) of Boynton Beach, FL; her grandchildren Christopher, Joseph Arnold and Emily; her brother Edward(Carol) Allgeier; 1 niece and 4 nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Donald.
