Obituary of Melody S. Vickers

Melody S. Vickers, age 71, passed away in Reddick, Florida on December 13th. She was born on December 19, 1948, in McIntosh but grew up in Reddick until she moved to Tampa in 1958. Melody went to Wilson, Oak Grove and Chamberlain before graduating in Leto High's first graduating class in 1967. After graduating from The University of Florida, she began her teaching career at Ballast Point Elementary in Tampa, then 2 years in Key West at Reynolds Elementary and her last twenty years at Reddick Elementary. She was a Presbyterian and long time member of McIntosh Presbyterian Church. She had horses, raised dalmatians and a schipperke named Hercule. She is predeceased by her mother, Emma G. Mosteller  and her father, Reuben Vickers. She is survived by her brother Richard and his family, Fair, McAuley and Fairfax, her stepfather, Gordon Mosteller, her half brother Rob Vickers, many cousins and friends as well as 5 generations of her mother's family buried at Millwood. Her courage in the face of lifelong health issues was inspiring. A private graveside service will be held at Millwood Cemetery in Reddick.
