Obituary of Robert F. Lockwood

Robert F. Lockwood, 82 of Ocala, FL passed away on Wednesday August 5, 2020 at Advent Hospital after a brief illness.  He was born on November 13, 1937 the son of Earl F. Lockwood and Julia E. (Hartrick) Schmidt.  Bob was a native of Stamford, CT for 40 years.  And moved to Milford, CT where he resided for 26 years. He is predeceased by his wife of almost 43 years, Sandra M. (Blattner) Lockwood, Son-in-Law Clayton Grey, and Grandson Andrew Grey. Bob’s surviving relatives are his sister Frances Docimo, sister-in-law Linda Rounding, children Patricia Clark (Bryan), Kelli Hosheit (Doug), Robert Lockwood (Liz), Maria Houser (Scott), grandchildren Bradley Rosa, Stephanie Grey, Robert Lockwood, Emily Grey, Abigail Clark, Ryan Lockwood, Alexandra Houser, and two great-grandchildren. 

 

Bob was a graduate of Stamford High School & Wright Technical School.  He was a very Artistic.  In School he pursued Mechanical Drafting as well as Engineering courses.  He was a mechanical Product Designer for Electrolux for many years as well as in the Army Reserves in his early adult life. After working two jobs while his young family was growing, he still found time for his faith. He was an active member of Union Memorial Church in Stamford for 40 years where he was a Youth Group Advisor for approximately 20 years mentoring with Faith Formation for many youth in the community.   Bob was also an active member at First Congregational UCC Church in Ocala where he was loved by all in his church family.  Starting in 1972, he and his wife became foster parents for the State of CT and Catholic Family Charities and continued for over 20 years raising over 30 children.  Bob loved sports. He was a wonderful coach dedicating his evenings after a full day of work to his youngest daughter whether it be going to her games or helping her win her World Frisbee Championship. In the second half of his life, he enjoyed square dancing with his wife and continued after her passing where he has many cherished friends.  He also enjoyed Country Line Dancing which he and his wife taught.   Bob had a sense of humor and was always  a  positive, kind, and non-judgemental person.   He will be missed by all.

 

There will be a private Zoom service for family and friends at First Congregational UCC Church, Ocala, FL on August 28th at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First Congregational UCC Church, 7171 SW State Road 200 W, Ocala, FL 34476.
