Jacqueline Riedel

Obituary of Jacqueline Riedel

Jacqueline “Toby” (Lindquist) Riedel, 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 13th 2020 in The Villages, FL. Toby was born on December 7th, 1930.

Toby was married to Gene Riedel on May 5, 1984 and together they shared 23 years of pure happiness. They truly appreciated and treasured their life together, which is part of what made their love so unlike any other. They both had a passion for traveling and spent a lot of time exploring the USA, other countries and continents. They also enjoyed activities like golf, boating, cards, cooking and entertaining. Most of all Toby and Gene loved spending time with their family. After retirement, summers were spent in Traverse City, MI in order to be close to their children and grandchildren. Gene preceded her in death on May 27th, 2007 and they are now together again for eternity.

Toby was one of a kind and will be truly missed. She had a heart full of love and strength that she shared with everyone she met. She deeply cared for others and was someone who could always be counted on. Toby was very active in her church, North Lake Presbyterian, and volunteered with Operation Homebound among other charities. While partaking in one of her favorite hobbies, watching Tampa Rays (and Tigers) baseball, Toby would knit scarves and winter hats for the homeless and cancer patients.

Toby is survived by step-children Jan (Chuck) Smith of Adrian, MI, Judy McGee of Sheboygan, WI, Joan (Russ) Schopieray of Traverse City, MI, Thomas (Karen) Riedel of Traverse City, MI, Mary (Mark) Kaufman of Canton, MI, Nancy (Craig) Carlson of Rockford, MI, and Kathleen (Scott) Bendickson of Traverse City, MI; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Along with Gene, Toby was preceded in death by her two children Janet and Alan Robson; parents; and sister.
