Thomas Strickland

Obituary of Thomas Strickland

Thomas Clifton Strickland, a devoted, loving, and virtuous husband, father, “Papa”, uncle, business owner, and friend to many, returned home to his maker’s side on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21, 2020, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

A business man of old-time values, Tommy worked alongside many of central Florida’s families and businesses as Strickland Surveying thrived for over 50 years. He retired in 2017 to enjoy his last few years with his wife and family and always looked forward to hunting season and his morning cup of black coffee.

A man who touched the lives and businesses of many, He leaves behind to spread his legacy of love his wife of 61 years, Mary; children, Michael (Tina), William “Danny” (Vickie), David (Denene), and Julie (Greg). “Adopted” daughters Jodi & Jenny. He also leaves a legacy of grandchildren; Heather, Zachary, Luke, Kristeena, Lance, Kayla, Maryann, Marissa, Delaney, Samantha, Mayleigh, Leisa, Adam, Joshua, Ariel, Makayla, Makinzi, Leigha & Lex; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great greats. He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces & nephews, foreign exchange students, and great friends. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Willie (Credle) Strickland, brother, Swain, sister, Alta “Beth” and infant son, Mark.

A funeral service will be held at First Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday, July 5th at 4 PM (Viewing to precede at 3PM) to celebrate Tommy’s life. His family would like to extend an invitation to all of those who, over the many years, have been touched by his kind soul. There’s comfort in knowing that once he’s asked by his maker how he’s been, he’s going to reply with “Just Barely”.
