Obituary of Carline Ann Krause

Carline Ann Krause 08/03/1943 - 04/29/2020

Carline Ann Krause was born to Stanley Kalinowski and Eleanore (Swanson) Kalinowski in Middletown, CT on August 3, 1943.  For most of her life, she lived in Middletown.  She moved to The Villages, Florida, the state she always referred to as “God’s Waiting Room”.  God called her name on April 29, 2020. 

After a successful career as a waitress at The Gelston House in East Haddam and The Wonder Bar in Berlin (where she met her second husband, Herb Krause), Carline became a real estate agent and a travel consultant.  At the Middletown Yacht Club, where she and Herb were long time members, she was known to parade down the dock while wearing funny hats, oversized sunglasses, flippers and blowing her train whistle, alerting everyone that it was Happy Hour. 

She had an uncanny knack for being in the right place at the right time, making herself noticed.  There are few non-celebrities who have been in the media as much as her, whether a photograph, an interview or a quote, she was omnipresent.  Just 20 days before her death, she was quoted in the Ocala Star Banner ( https://www.ocala.com/article/LK/20140409/news/604140311/OS/) for a conversation she had with Governor Rick Scott.  Carline thrived in the spotlight. 

She was a superb maker of Bisquick casseroles, hors d’oeuvres and reservations (both travel and restaurant).  She was an avid shopper.  The decline of JC Penny is a direct result of her passing.  While Carline loved the company of people, she also loved her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Herbert Krause, her parents, brother, Gregory Kalinowski, sister Sandy Foreman Hallmark and dogs Poochie, Trixie, Suzy, Denny, JazzPurr, and Oliver.  She is survived by a daughter, Sandie Mintz (Rick Gordon) and a granddaughter, Eloise Ann Gordon, of Nesbit, Mississippi, sister Jeri Webb (Mark), brothers Jim Kalinowski (Linda) and Ricky Kalinowski, of Southern California, several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Buffy. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to an Alcohol Treatment Center in your area, or your local Humane Society.  Due to Covid-19, a date is yet to be determined for the Memorial Services to be held at Biega Funeral Home in Middletown, Connecticut.  She will be laid to rest in Swedish Cemetery in Portland, Connecticut.
