Kenneth Sechler

Obituary of Kenneth R. Sechler

Kenneth R. Sechler was born November 27, 1948 in Fort Wayne, IN; passed April 2, 2020 in The Villages, FL.  He proudly served in the US Air Force until 1971 and later attended Purdue University where he graduated in 1974 with a degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.  Kenny’s professional life was as an employee of Northrup Grumman and later TRW where he was responsible for developing communications equipment for the NASA space programs.  He subsequently retired to The Villages where he was an esteemed brother and member of one of the largest golf groups in The Villages named The Critters.  Kenny was a well-liked and respected brother by all 55 members of The Critters.  He could always be relied upon to assist in any endeavor The Critters group undertook, especially when it involved organizing and promoting numerous Critter Fundraising golf tournaments.  Thanks to his selflessness and dedication, the proceeds from these tournaments went toward supporting a myriad of community activities within The Villages area such as Battered Women’s Shelter, Junior Golf Association, and Combat Veterans to Careers—a testament to his commitment to help others.  Kenny was extremely intelligent and a member of MENSA.  Due to his extreme IQ and his professional background, he was respectfully referred to as the “Rocket Scientist,” and was universally known within the golf group as a walking encyclopedia.  Regardless of the subject matter, he was well-versed.  He will be sorely missed by all, not the least of which will be his Critter brethren.  He is survived by his cousin Mary Lotter; JD; and Mike Nolan.  Arrangements entrusted with HIERS-BAXLEY Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center, 352-775-7427.  Sentiments may be left online at www.hiers-baxley.com.
