Ronald Lamont

Obituary of Ronald Joseph Lamont

Ronald Joseph Lamont, 85 of Ocala Florida, passed away on Friday, March 6 2020 at Estelle's Hospice House of Ocala.

Ron leaves behind his wife of 60+ years, June (McMann) Lamont; his daughter, Ronnese Lamont;  his brothers, William Lamont and Robert Lamont; many other family members to lengthy to list; his furry companions, Stubby the cat, and Candy the dog.

Born in South Haven, Michigan, he was the son of William and Oma (Casey) Lamont.

Ron Lamont was a Veteran of a Foreign War. He served in the USMC and earned medals including: Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and China Service Medal.

After moving his family to Miami, Florida in the late 1960's, his endeavors as a businessman took him down a path of various entrepreneurial adventures. He ran Bowling Centers and Night Clubs. He flipped burgers in his snack bar.

He scooped ice-cream out of his ice-cream parlour. He sold plush toys in crane machines. He distributed cakes and muffins to quick-stop gas stations. He distributed and sold everything from air-purifiers to caskets.

He was a creatively resourceful and clever entrepreneur. Mr. Lamont loved his family. He was the happiest when he could share his generosity with others. He would take family on excursions to Disney World, or summer vacations on the Beach. Many of his nieces and nephews express their fondest memories were had because of their Uncle Ron.

Ron Lamont was a movie buff. Ron could name a movie and tell you every actor in it, or where he was when he first saw the movie, or recite almost verbatim lines from movies. He and his daughter spent a week when she was 6 or 7 watching the Court Jester over and over so they could memorize the patter songs. Until he passed away they continued to sing the patter songs to each other.

Ron had a soft spot for children, the elderly and animals, and he would give until he couldn't to anyone who truely needed a helping hand.

In December of 2011, Mr Lamont was "challenged" by a massive stroke that left him paralyzed and bedridden. He fought the warrior battle to the end with his wife and daughter by his side.
