Obituary of Marion G. Stephens

Marion G. Stephens, age 99, of The Villages, Florida passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at The Villages Cornerstone Hospice. Born August 26, 1920 in May Day, KS, she later moved with her family to Freeport, IL. She was predeceased by her parents Claude and Alpha Wilson, her brothers Claude, Eugene, and Hack and her sister Rosemary; her husband Kenneth, daughter Nancy, and son Kenny. She is survived by daughter Mary Ann (Bill) Kayackas, 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchildren. Marion enjoyed being with her family above all else.

Marion grew up during The Depression, graduated from Freeport High School in Freeport, IL, worked for Honeywell in a factory making switches. She was proud to play a small part in the NSAS space program as she made switches for the Apollo 7 moon rocket where Armstrong took his 1st steps on the moon.

She was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Summerfield, FL. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 2-4 pm, with a prayer service at 4 pm, located at Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 10 am, located at St. Mark the Evangelist, 7081 SE Highway 42, Summerfield, FL 34491. 

Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport, IL.
