Obituary of Deborah "Debbie" Rodberg

Deborah “Debbie” Rodberg, 62, formerly of The Florida Keys and Pigeon Forge, TN passed away peacefully at her home in The Villages, FL surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 after a lengthy fight with Alzheimer’s.

Debbie was born on July 26, 1957 in Miami, Florida. Her life was filled with happiness. She attended Coral Shores High School and had the honor of going to the prom with her principal. Several of her favorite hobbies included her amazing dancing, aerobics (which she attended 5 nights a week with her Mom), beads and fan club posters, bowling and swimming, which she participated in Special Olympics several times. She loved singing Patsy Cline with her Mom during many outings. Her greatest joy was her volunteer work at Mariners Hospital and LeConte Medical Center. She took great pride in caring for patients over the years and was loved and supported by the nurses and staff. In 1996 she was awarded the Skeet Norley Award by ARC of Florida for adding the most to the community for a disabled person.

Survivors include her parents Mary Jane and Allan Rodberg; sisters Gail Rodberg and Kim Rodberg; brothers Dale (Kim) Rodberg and Derek (Tara) Rodberg; her six nieces and nephews, many cousins and aunts and uncle. As the saying goes “it takes a village” and Debbie was embraced and loved by her communities, extended family and lifelong friends including the Hynes and McLaughlin/Lugo families.

A celebration of her incredible life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in her memory to: The ARC Sunrise of Central Florida, 35201 Radio Road, Leesburg, FL 34788.

A very special thanks to the doctors and staff at Leesburg Regional Medical Center and all of the wonderful healthcare workers over the years in Florida and Tennessee that have cared for Debbie so lovingly.

Arrangements are under the care of Hiers-Baxley Funeral and Cremation Life Event Center, The Villages.
