Obituary of Ruth Gloria Tassa

A TRIBUTE TO OUR BELOVED MOTHER RUTH GLORIA TASSA 99 YEARS

On Saturday, July 27th 2019 my beautiful and amazing mother Ruth Gloria Tassa passed away

went straight to heaven just four months shy of her 100th birthday.  She was always there for me.

It is going to be very lonely and sad without her.

Her life began on November 30th, 1919 the day she was born in New York City. Her mother was a

Norwegian immigrant named Borghild Olsen and her father was Bertram Everton Snodgrass a

Spanish-American War Veteran who served in the Military Calvary.

Her mother was only 18 and her father was 20 years older. Her parents met in Baltimore, Maryland married and

moved to Arlington, Virginia and soon after came my mom Ruth who was an only child.  She grew up in

North Arlington, Virginia and graduated from Washington-Lee High School then made her career as a secretary in the

federal government in our nations Capitol Washington, DC.

My dearest mom you were the most beautiful, charming, strong willed, determined, delightful person I have ever known in my life.

You taught me courage and strength.  And how to get through the most difficult times, trials and tribulations, pain and sorrows.

And how to keep the faith and to never give up hope. You would always say to me "Better days are coming".

Keep your faith in the Lord and pray. And "God helps those who help themselves". She always knew the right

things to say. I will miss talking with her in all her wisdom and great advice. She had a brilliant mind.

And I thank you mom for that and all your generosity and unconditional tender love and care. I adored your sense

of humor and personality. You were a very funny person and could always find a way to make me laugh and see the bright side.

And you were so fun to be with and so interesting to talk with. You were sharp as a tack for your advanced age.

No one could believe how your mind was so awesome and clear all the way up to your final days on earth.

And to top it off you were a great cook!  So grateful for that. No one could make spaghetti and meatballs like you mom!

You were a social butterfly, loved ladies clubs, loved to dance, attending church, reading the newspaper, playing golf,

writing cards and letters and never forgot anyone's birthday ever and always placed a money gift in their card!  And you

always found a reason to place a tip in anyone's hand who helped her out.  She loved to drive her car, go shopping buying gifts

for all of her grandchildren and many others. Such a thoughtful and generous person in so many ways.  Always happy to help.

.

I admired so many things about you mom I cannot name them all. You really were wonderful to me and the best mom,

grandmother and friend to everyone ever!  We will all miss you dearly and remember you fondly.

A SALUTE FOR MOM RUTH GLORIA TASSA

You raised us kids
And always lived right.
We were always safe and warm,
Before you slept each night.

You worked hard
All through your life
As a friend, a mother,
And a faithful wife.

You were not rich, or poor
Or even famous.
But you did your very best
to give your love and
never let anyone
come between us.

Life is not easy
Nor is it fair.
And now you've departed
with white in your hair.

So here is a salute,
to you Ruth my dear mother
who always did her best for others
and has always cared.

I pray to God you rest in peace in heaven

my dearly beloved and greatly missed mother,
my very best friend in the world like no other.

I miss you so very much mom each and every day.
Please know you will always be with me in my heart,

my thoughts and prayers. You are now joined

in the life ever after with your beloved husband

Gerald and daughter Patricia and our God almighty.

So if Roses grow in Heaven Lord,

please pick a bunch for me,
place them in my Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.

Please tell her that I love and miss her
and when she turns to smile,

place a soft kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.

Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day, but there’s an ache
within my heart, that will never go away.

With Love, Hugs & Kisses Forever & Always,

Your devoted daughter Adelaide

I am my mother's garden, her loving legacy.  And time cannot touch the many gifts she gave - they all live in me.
