Edward Magenheimer

Obituary of Edward F. Magenheimer

Edward F. Magenheimer, 70, died March 29, 2019 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Edward, born and raised in Queens, New York, was a loyal and generous man who loved his friends and family. He was known to be fun and had a great sense of humor.  He was often on stage for birthday parties and events which would have large crowds laughing hysterically.  He knew how to have a good time and was always the life of the party.

Edward graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1971 and created a family of brothers in Kappa Sigma Fraternity.  He often described that era as having the best times of his life.  Following graduation Edward was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army.  He then began his business career in Doylestown, Pennsylvania where he raised his family and made lifelong friendships with his neighbors in Hunters Run.

Edward was a very successful business executive.  He started off as a salesman for SMC (Systems Manufacturing Corp.) and later became President while the company was in distress.  Through his leadership and tenacity he turned SMC into a global company, having the opportunity to take the company public, he instead sold SMC to Fisher Scientific and retired at the young age of 50.  His family at SMC described him as a man of resolve, high integrity, courage, and extreme confidence.  His employees loved working for him because he had the ability to bring the best out of people and as a leader, he recognized their contributions to SMC's success.

He later moved to PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida playing golf, fishing, going to sporting events, travelling the world, and spending quality time with his son and four grandchildren.  He is survived by his son Eddie; daughter in law Janell; grandchildren Tommy, 10, Kayla, 8, Diana, 5, and Madelyn, 2 of Madisonville, LA; and his brother Richard Magenheimer of Fairfax Station, VA.
