Obituary of Genarita “Gennie” Osorio

Genarita “Gennie” Osorio, 71, of Ocala, Florida passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, while under the care of hospice. She was born in Puerto Rico to the late Leocadio and Antonia Prado. Gennie met the love of her life Rafael in Puerto Rico. They were married on May 8, 1965 and moved to New York and later established themselves in Chicago. Gennie worked as a School Secretary for 18 years. They retired to Florida in 2002.

She enjoyed gardening, crafts, interior decorating and adored spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years Rafael A. Osorio; daughter Luz Castello (David); son Rafael Osorio, Jr.; grandchildren Valerie, Rafael, Erik, Zoe and Ethan; great grandchildren Lalia, Daymian, Armando, Isabella and Troy; and her loving puppy Zuly.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings.

A gathering will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 11am-12pm, with a celebration of life to follow at 12 pm, located at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL 32159.
