Obituary of Richard Earl Myers

Richard Earl Myers, 82, of Summerfield, Florida (formally of Fairmont, WV) passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Emergency Room in Summerfield, Florida. 

 

Dick was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, the son of the late Ansel J. and Oma Criss Myers.  He was employed by Monongahela Power Co. and retired as Controller and Director of Regulatory Accounting in 1996 after 37 years of dedicated service.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Salem College and completed advanced management and accounting courses from West Virginia University.  He was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

 

While in Fairmont, Dick was a member of the Fairmont Rotary Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Marion County Health Department.  He was also a member and past president of the Central WV chapter of the Society of CPA's and was a past Director and Secretary/Treasurer of the WV Society of CPA's.  In 1995 he was awarded the Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry by the WV Society of CPA's.

 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara and his children Lee Ann of Altamonte Springs, FL,  Greg of Miami, FL and Janice (Zogelmann) and her husband Tim of Allentown, PA.   He is also survived by sister, Carolyn Myers Green and her husband Joe of Warner Robins, GA,  brother-in-laws, Benny Matthey and Don Bell Jr. both of Clarksburg, WV, David Bell and his wife Lori of Point Marion, PA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.   He was preceeded in death by his sister, Neta Pearl Matthey.
