Obituary of Alwin K. Goodrick

Alwin K. Goodrick, 95 retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company, died on Saturday, Oct 6, 2018 at Chambrell Pinecastle. A native of Illinois, he came here from Glenview, Illinois in 1984. He was born February 16, 1923 to parents James Albert Goodrick and Wilhelmina “Minnie” Ackmann in Dalzelle, Illinois. The family then resided in Utica, Illinois from  1925-1927, moving to Lane farm in Earlville, Illinois from1928-1931, then to Owens farm in Triumph, Illinois in 1932 at which time his father passed away. As families always gather strength from each other, Al was raised by his mother and her sisters, living in various parts of Illinois through his high school years. Al then worked at Butow Electric until joining the Army in 1943. He served his country in the Army for 3 years, stopping only to marry the love of his life, Lucy Elizabeth Kaspar on June 26, 1943. They lived the life of an Army couple until Al was shipped overseas. Following the war, Al and Lucy settled in Wilmette, Illinois and finally in Glenview Illinois, creating 3 awesome children.  They resided there until pulling up stakes and moving to Ocala in 1984. Al was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. Always an avid golfer, he belonged to several golf leagues. His beloved wife and partner in life, preceded him in death on September 28, 2001. Survivors include daughters Patricia Raquet (James) of Albuquerque, NM, Carol Kane (Mick) of Ocala and son Jim Goodrick (Frosty) of Delevan WI, four grandchildren, Kevin, Michael, Kelly and Stephen and seven great grandchildren.  The family will be having a memorial service celebrating Al’s life on Thursday, Nov 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 3453 E. Silver Springs Blvd, All family and friends are invited to celebrate Al’s life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kindred Hospice in memory of Al.
