Obituary of Mary A. Jones

Mary A. Jones, of The Villages, FL, died on Wed., Aug. 15, 2018, in the care of Cornestone Hospice.

She was born in Bridgeport, CT to Louis and Alice (Maloney) Ferraro, and raised in Mamaroneck, NY. Mary graduated from Mamaroneck High School and Palomar College and was an R. N. and a Certified Nursing Case Manager.

She married Richard F. Jones in 1961 and settled in Mt. Vernon, NY where her children were born. During her marriage, she also lived in northeastern CT and San Diego, CA.

Mary retired to The Villages in 2006, and attended St. Timothy’s Church.

While in The Villages, she volunteered at The Villages Regional Medical Center for the last 12 years, and the Florida Cancer Specialists, as well as Moffitt Cancer Center. She was a member of the hospital’s volunteer idea exchange and the hospital auxiliary as well as The Villages Nurses Club. She also enjoyed her book club meetings as well as classes in art, music, and literature through the lifelong learning college. Mary enjoyed several hobbies and activities including yoga and golf, which she played primarily to enjoy the lunches with her “Nine & Dine” Group.

Mary was a caring and compassionate nurse, a wonderful wife, and a great mother and an outstanding homemaker. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband Richard F. Jones; son Richard C. Jones of FL; daughter Victoria Woodbury of NY; as well as nieces; nephews; and cousins in NY and CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Frank; and sister Elizabeth.

Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 11:00 AM at HIERS-BAXLEY Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Mary's name, to Cornerstone Hospice.
