This was a lady I loved and respected during my tenure at St. John’s Baptist Church, Port-of-Spain as Office Secretary to the Pastor, the Rev’d Victor Anthony Cadette.
As a young girl just starting my work life, this ardent Deaconess took me under her wings as she encouraged, supported and nurtured me for which I am ever so thankful.
Even though I was not in touch with her for many years, I never forgot her kind, caring and gentle spirit.
To her children, I send sincere condolences. May God grant you peace and comfort at this time. A beautiful soul has gone to rest.

I am sad that she is no longer here with us.
I am glad that during her life she was an example of a Saint, a true follower of Christ. She inspired and encouraged me as I led the ministry at St. John’s Baptist Church. She was a reliable leader as a Deaconess and the Women’s and Usher’s groups.
We accept that God has called her home to claim her reward of eternal life.
For all who knew Sylvia, she will be a source of inspiration as long as we live.

I met Mrs. Cooper while she was attending Bible College at Bethlehem Missionary Church in Queens Village, New York. She was a very diligent student and an example to the other students. She was the first student to get her Bachelors Degree in Theology. We parted ways when she moved to Ocala. We kept in touch and I eventually moved to Ocala in 2007 and we linked up and through her influence I became a member of Hebron Evangelical Church where we both served as Bible College instructors until the time of her passing. I have admired her commitment to any task at hand, and especially her devotion to God and to those she came in contact with. What a beautiful person she was. She will be irreplaceable at Hebron. My condolences to the family. May God wrap His arms around you. Dr. Kathleen Muir.
