Obituary of Albert J. Harper

Albert J. Harper, born March 14, 1923, (95)  of The Villages, FL passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018. Children include Kathy Yezbick (Patrick), Kris, Tom (Vickie), Larry (Tina), Joan Burns (Patrick), Beth Bryant (Jack), Susan, and Jim (Lisa). Another son, John, passed away in 2014. He is a Grandfather to 36, a Great Grandfather to 41 and a Great-Great Grandfather to 7. A legacy of 93 people!

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Janet Ruth Harper who passed away on April 17, 2018. He is survived by his brother, Dale Harper (Virginia) and many loving nieces and nephews.

 

A resident of The Villages, Florida for 17 years, Albert was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1923.  After marrying Janet in 1945, they resided in Toledo until moving to Westland, Michigan in 1958 and then moving to Medina, Ohio in 1972.They relocated to The Villages in 2001. For the previous 2 years, Al and Janet resided at Elan of Spanish Springs, where they were surrounded with loving supportive friends who became their second family.

 

Al served in the Army Air Force during WWII, stationed in what is now known as Ghana. He retired from AC Delco, a division of GM at age 65.  He was a very proud husband, father and grandfather.  He didn't know a stranger and made everyone he spoke with feel like they were the most important person in the world. He loved hearing and telling jokes and shared wonderful stories with his family. 

He will be missed greatly!

 

A Funeral Service will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10:30AM, with Military Honors starting at 10:15AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a local St. Vincent de Paul Society or your favorite charity.
