Lee
So sorry to hear of Kay’s passing. We’re still in Punta Gorda but don’t do a lot of traveling event though we live so near. Think of often, remembering the good times and the service and advice when we still had the funeral home.
Blessings. Dan and Marge

To my dear friend Lee, so sorry to hear about Kay. While I never met her, I felt like I did know her from the conversations we had over the years when you were our Federated
representative. You always spoke so highly and lovingly of her. My condolences to you and your family. Miss seeing you and having our conversations not only about business but our personal lives too. You helped me through so much over the years, with the death of my parents and the transition of the business to where we are today. I will be forever grateful to you. Prayers to you and yours.

I love this poem and wanted to share it.
Gone From My Sight
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
And that is dying...

I wanted to share a poem with you that I found comforting...
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are...
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
For an interval,
Somewhere, Very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well.

I have some great memories of Kay, as I'm sure you all do. I loved seeing her dance with Kendra at Brian & Kendra's wedding, rocking and dancing with my son when he was a tiny baby (Lee did too!). My greatest wish is that your good memories of Kay will help you through grieving her loss, and knowing she is at peace will bring you comfort.
Love,
Jon & Julie Downing

To my dear friends, Carl and Kendra, and their beautiful families...I know Kay is looking down from heaven with great pride in the amazing individuals you all have become. Continue to make her proud as you live on with the same strength, courage, and humor she showed throughout her life. May you all find comfort in the company of friends and family who love you...

Lee, when I first met you, a lifetime ago, I was meeting the tall handsome man who seemed to be shedding a brilliant ray of light into Carl's and Kendra's lives...hope for a better future for two friends I loved very much. When I was reintroduced to this still strikingly handsome man, I knew that all of the hope my friends had for a positive life and future for their mother and themselves had come true. You gave Kay, Carl, and Kendra unconditional love and security. I will always be grateful that they were blessed to have you as a husband, father, role model, and friend. Now, I am also blessed to have you in my life...as the father I have been missing since I lost my own. I love you...

Kay, when I first met you 36 years ago, I was in awe of meeting the incredibly beautiful woman who brought my first true love, Carl, and my sweet fun girlfriend, Kendra (Kimba), into this world. When we reunited, all these years later, I was again in awe...only now I was being reintroduced to the still incredibly beautiful woman who raised both the amazing man who will be my husband-my last true love, and the wonderful woman who will be my sister-in-law. I will always be grateful to you for that and for the kindness and generosity you showed in welcoming me into your family. Although we did not have enough time to get to know each other better, I have heard many stories of your strength, courage, and good humor; there was definitely a loving bond created through our visits and conversations. I will miss you and think of you often with a warm heart and a smile. May you rest in well-deserved eternal peace. I love you...

We were neighbors and friends of Kay for 10 years. She was a great lady!! Kay is by far one of the strongest women we have ever known. She suffered for so long, but never gave up. She amazed us.
This was also in part, because of the care and undying love of her husband. Lee was always by her side, and whatever needed done, if it was humanly possible, he did it. True Love!! Kay will NEVER again have any pain....her soul is at peace....and as Lee says, “She is dancing with her father”. That made her happy.
We offer our love and condolences to Lee and her family. Kay will live on through the memories we all will carry in our hearts.
Love......Lynn and Everett
