Obituary of Ruth I. Beard Hubbard

Ruth I. Beard Hubbard, 95, passed away peacefully March 16, 2018. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (James) Whaley, Summerville, SC; stepson, Peter A. (Lydia) Hubbard, Farmington Hills, MI; and stepdaughter, Libby (Brad) Schooley, Indianapolis, IN, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, she married Harold Beard in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1991. She married Esmer O. “Pete” Hubbard in 1994 and he passed away in 2001.

Prior to retirement, Ruth had been the Branch Manager and also Head Teller at the First National Bank of Maryland / Hagerstown Trust. She had been president of Hagerstown Business and Professional Women’s organization and served her church. After retiring to Ocala, she worked diligently with the Florida Federation of Mobile Home Owners, representing their interests at the state level. She enjoyed puzzles, crosswords, needlepoint, crocheting and reading.

The family would like to thank Pacifica Assisted Living, Hospice Care, Circle 3 of the First Presbyterian Church, and her many friends from Oak Run for their TLC and friendship over the years.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley, Timber Ridge, 9695 SW 110^th Street, Ocala. Rev. Ruth Elswood, First Presbyterian Church, Ocala, will officiate.
