Obituary of Thomas R. Bandoly

Thomas R. "Tom" Bandoly, age 85, of The Villages, FL passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. He was born in Chicago, IL on October 28, 1932. At the age of 9 Tom and his siblings were placed in the care of Maryville Orphanage in Des Plaines, IL. He was drafted into the US Army at the age of 19 and served two years in Korea during the Korean War. After the war he returned to his wife Darlene and made a home in Chicago. They moved to Atlanta, GA where they resided until moving to Florida. He used the GI Bill and earned both an Undergraduate Degree in Chemistry and an MBA. During his life Tom worked as a Chemical Sales Representative for years in the industry. His hobbies included woodcarving, leather working, stone masonry, baking, brewing, wine making, glass etching, photography, gentleman farming, playing guitar and reading. In retirement his greatest love was working with Therapy Dogs in local medical facilities. He also served as a Counselor to cancer patients at Waterman Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Darlene Bandoly; sons Paul and Glenn; daughter Catherine Callahan; 9 grandchildren Laura, Tom, Tim, Kenneth, Daniel, Anthony, Alexander, Aaron and Addison; 7 great grandchildren. A visitation will take place at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages, FL on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 3-5pm. A funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 10am. Burial with military honors will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
